Honestly, I’m not a big fan myself.
However, there’s one item that’s about .50 (it might be a dollar now) that I LOVE getting from walmart for my garden.
This item is so precious that I literally have these all over my yard.
It’s the Walmart shopping bag. The generic blue kind.
I was put on to this method of growing last year and I’ve got to say…it’s been AMAZING.
The key to it all is the bag does air pruning for the plant. And if you know anything about air pruning, it makes the plant grow more roots when the current roots reach the edge of the bag.
Because roots don’t like growing in air, the new root systems it continues to grow takes advantage of the nutrients in the soil instead of being root bound in a regular container.
I’ve had bell peppers, kale, watermelons, lettuce, tomatoes, and herbs growing in these and have received a plentiful harvest.
And here’s the best part. In some cases I’ve been able to reuse the same bags from the previous year!
Just a quick wash in the washing machine and I’m ready for the next growing season.
Unlike the store, the bags are truly amazing to grow plants in. It’s a keeper in my opinion and I encourage you to try it out for yourself.
Oh, one final thing. Make sure you get the generic looking blue bags, not the designer ones they have. You’ll know which ones they are because they’ll be the cheapest.
Normally, they’re on the end caps at the end of the registers.
You could ask someone for help…but…good luck with that!
Just kidding…but not. LOL.
