So if you can help it, having a clean body and clean items is an absolute must.
That’s not discounting the items you need to survive like food, water, shelter, etc. But there’s also a plant you could use to help you create soap AND you can consume it like food.
It’s Yucca.
Yucca is delicious in my opinion. I used to love having Yucca fries. But recently I found out that you can extract soap or shampoo from it as well. Here’s how:
First you’ll need to dig up the tuber. This may take a machete because the tubers can go very deep and the leaves can be thorny which wouldn’t work well with a shovel. Also, if this isn’t on your property, make sure to check you have legal permission to dig it up.
Next, you’ll need to peel off the thick skin or husk. Make sure you have a good sharp knife for this. Afterwards, dice it into pieces.
After you’ve cut it into pieces, you could use a blender or food processor, but if you’re trying to go survival style, then a mortar and pestle will work here. Grind the pieces that you’ve diced up in the step above.
Finally, to get the soap, take the ground up root in your hands and squeeze out the liquid. The liquid can be used as soap or shampoo.
The remaining root can be dried and reconstituted for later use to make more soap.
Who would have ever thought that this amazing delicious plant could also provide a means of cleaning too?
So if you ever get access to a tuber, now you know you’ve got organic natural soap anytime you want it!
