Why? Because you’ve let the ashes inside of them go to waste.
Yep. Those ashes can be used in a number of ways for survival needs that you probably didn’t even know about.
It’s true. As a matter of fact, with those wood or charcoal ashes you can:
- Use it as an odor repellent – sprinkle over the area that smells
- Use some types to brush your teeth – (not all, but some of them you can)
- Use them as a stain remover
- Use it to recycle nutrients back into the earth with farming
- Prevent plant frost
- Deter animals, insects, and parasites in your garden
- Filter water before drinking
- Remove humidity in certain areas
- Preserve fruits and vegetables
- Make lye water – which has multiple uses
- Melt ice since ashes contain salt
- Put out fires
- Make sodium carbonate which can be used in household cleaning
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many other uses for ash that it’ll make your head spin.
So the next time you warm yourself by the fire or grill up a nice juicy steak, remember to take the ashes and put them to good use afterwards!
