D-day. Dystopian future. The Apocalypse.
They’re all terms you hear being thrown around in movies and in the news.
And while I’m not for the fear mongering, I did need to ask myself, “If things went south tomorrow, could I take care of myself and my family?”
It’s this question that began to spur me to learn how to grow food and buy things to be prepared…just in case.
Because the best way to sleep at night…is to be prepared.
So I’ll ask you, “are you prepared to be self sufficient?”
Once again, let me be clear that I’m not trying to preach fear. Far from it. However, I can’t ignore the fact that those who are in positions of power are desperate to hold onto that power…and are willing to do ANYTHING to keep it.
Even if that means sending the world into a frenzy…just so they can remain its ‘saviors’.
So how can you prepare starting today?
1. Don’t Get Anxious – But Take Steps Now – No Matter How Small
The first thing to do…is just to start. That’s it. Start where you are and with what you have. If you’ve never grown food before, learn how to have good soil. Then grow a few plants.
Some of the easiest plants to grow are cucumbers, zucchini, lettuces, kale, collards, swiss chard, herbs, and tomatoes.
You don’t have to have a hundred plants. Just start with a handful. Get used to the process. If you can’t use soil, then use hydroponics. Using certain lightbulbs from your local Walmart with 5000k (Kelvin) can help grow all your leaves.
Meaning, if it doesn’t have to bloom fruit, you can grow it with the regular 100 watt lights as long as the lumens and kelvin are high enough.
Also, begin to add items to your home that will help you through a winter should you be without power. Creating a rocket stove from cheap bricks at Home Depot along with tuna cans, pop cans, or other metal cans not only gives heat, but also gives a cooking option as well..
2. Don’t Believe Everything You Hear On The News
If you do a search on major news sites, you’ll see it’s just a ton of bad news. This is done on purpose.
You have to be careful of this because whatever you’re exposed to, you can become it. Your mind begins to get tuned to it and it can make it reality.
So be wise in knowing that something could happen, prepare for it, but don’t let it make you live in fear.
3. Use Technology – Don’t Get Used By Technology
Finally, you’ll want to take advantage of all the free knowledge out there that can help prepare for a potential crisis. Instead of spending all day on YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook doing mindless tasks, take the time to learn how to prepare for potential crises’ instead.
Doing all of these things above will help you in the case of some dystopian nightmare hitting the planet.
However, even with all of that being said, still live your life to the fullest in anticipation of great things.
Prepare today so you don’t have to worry about tomorrow.
